The Edge on Parenting

About the Edge on Parenting

The Edge on Parenting, or Triple P, is a Positive Parenting Program that promotes effective communication and strong relationships between parents and children.  This positive approach to parenting helps parents promote their children’s development and manage their children’s behavior in a constructive and caring way.

Individual Consultations

The facilitator will sit down with you and tailor the level of Triple P to suit your family's specific needs. This may include talking through some strategies on how to give your child the best start in life, formulating a Parenting Plan or discussing a Tip Sheet which deals with a specific issue such as sleep patterns, tantrums and potty training. Individual consultations may be brief, 10 to 20 minute meetings, or a series of four meetings of 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on what your individual needs are.

Seminar Series

The seminar series covers key areas we know many parents want information and help with including:

-Understanding general parenting issues

-Dealing decisively and effectively with behaviours such as aggression, non-cooperation and disobedience

-Recognizing and managing situations such as difficulty with separation, problems mixing with other children, anxiety, and sadness.

-Each series of seminars involves three 1/2 hour sessions. Seminars may be offered over the course of three evenings or they may be cominations into a one day seminar. There are two age groups targeted with the Seminar Series, 0-8 yr olds and the Tween Seminars for 8-12 yr olds.

Group Programs

In group Triple P, you will learn about effective parenting strategies, how to promote your child's development, how to manage common child behaviour problems and also principles to help you deal with almost any situation that may arise.

The program consists of four 2 hour group sessions (8-10 people in a group) followed by three 15 minute follow up phone calls with the group facilitator and ending with a final group session. The benefits of the the group session include peer support, friendship and constructive feeback from other parents as well as the opportunity to know you are not "the only one" with parenting issues.
