Childhood Diabetes Support Group
If your family has a Type 1 Diabetic child, this group may be for you…
The goal for the group is to attract mature, responsible members who are willing to open their own homes as “Safe Places for Diabetic Children” to go to if ever in Diabetic Distress and to bring families together who live with Type 1. Since this support group started in June of this year, 4 families have come together. The age range of our T1Der’s so far is from 6 yrs. old to 36!! All ages are welcome. Strong friendships are being built.
A Facebook Group has been created call “Chestermere Children (& Families) with Type 1 Diabetes”. This group is open to all communities: Strathmore, Langdon & all surrounding areas.
The next get-together is planned for Tuesday, September 20 at 7:00pm at a member’s home. If you would like more information and/or are interested in joining the group, please contact Tracy Sigurdson 403-990-0617 or tsigurd@shaw.ca

Support for gifted children and their families?
Gifted children and their families have special needs.
One of the most important supports needed for gifted children and their families is a venue whereby they might meet others with similar experiences, challenges and joys that come with the way they ARE. Parents “connecting” with each other, sharing resources and supports, will assist families through the rocky teenage years ahead.
If you are interested in a ‘support group for parents of gifted children’, OR in extension programming, please contact us, and we will add your name to a list of those interested.
Please phone Community Services at 207-7060.
